Tear trough treatment details

When you arrive for your tear trough filler appointment, you will be given a topical numbing anesthetic. After about 20 minutes, your treatment will begin. A dermal filler will be carefully and gently injected into the skin near your eyes.

The treatment will take about 15 to 30 minutes, and the dermal fillers we use for this area at Hessler Plastic Surgery include Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Evolence®, or Radiesse®. For the best results, multiple treatments will be needed.

Recovery

You can return to your regular day immediately after your tear trough filler treatment, although you may experience slight swelling at the injection site. Bruises or lumps might be visible at first, but these will subside within a few days. If you want to avoid bruising, it’s smart to avoid drinking alcohol and taking NSAIDs a couple days before your treatment.

Results

Your results will become apparent about a week after treatment. You can expect the results to last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, although this amount of time will vary according to the patient’s muscles, skin type, age, and lifestyle.
