A thread lift uses a dissolvable, medical-grade thread that has a combination of small barbs and dissolving polydioxanone cones attached to it. When you arrive for your Bay Area thread lift procedure, your face will be numbed with an injectable anesthetic. Your skin will be cleansed, then marked to help guide Dr. Hessler. She will create the entry and exit points on your face with a needle, and then the threading will begin. One side of the face is done at a time. Although “barbed thread” may sound painful, it is not. The threads are very small.

These threads will be pulled to lift the facial tissues upward, and the cones will engage the subcutaneous tissue to stimulate new collagen. The procedure typically takes one hour if being performed on its own. Because patients are numbed, there is minimal discomfort. However, you may be aware of a “clicking” or pulling sensation during treatment, or the feeling that your skin is becoming getting tighter.

Recovery

One of the best things about a “non-surgical facelift” in the Bay Area is that there is very minimal downtime. Directly after the procedure, you will be able to go about your day as normal. Some patients experience slight swelling and/or soreness for a couple of days.

Results

Results can be seen immediately after treatment, and it will take 4 to 12 months for the threads to dissolve.
