Revision Facelift in Palo Alto, San Jose, and the Bay Area

If you are in Palo Alto, San Jose, or the surrounding Bay Area and you’re interested in a revision facelift, Dr. Hessler delivers superior results in this specific procedure.

What is a revision facelift?

A revision facelift is a facelift performed for the second time. There are many reasons why an individual may choose to undergo this procedure, and it can be a challenging surgery — especially when it is being done to correct mistakes that were made the first time. However, in the hands of a skilled facial plastic surgeon, a revision facelift can have a beautiful outcome.

Why get a revision facelift?

  • Facelift was performed at least a decade ago
  • Patient is not pleased with previous facelift results
  • Patient is unhappy with scarring
  • Previous facelift results do not look natural
  • Previous facelift resulted in changes to the hairline, ears, or mouth
  • Previous facelift resulted in asymmetry

Revision facelift surgical details

A revision facelift procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 3 to 5 hours, although surgery time will be different depending on how much work needs to be done. Dr. Hessler will typically use the same incisions from the previous facelift. Revision facelifts require special care and attention to detail. Because the patient will have already gone through a facelift before, their skin will already be stretched thinner, and there is scar tissue to deal with. In addition, sometimes the incisions from the first surgery have healed unattractively and must be considered. Dr. Hessler will correct any asymmetries and other areas of concern.

Recovery

The recovery time for a revision facelift is about two weeks. You may experience swelling, discomfort, and soreness for several days after surgery. Dr. Hessler will provide you with detailed home care instructions to help your recovery go as smoothly as possible, and she may also recommend or prescribe medications to help with discomfort. She will go over what to expect and avoid during recovery at your consultation.

Ideal candidates are men and women whose first facelift was performed at least one year ago.
